Standard course

This course is the ideal for people who want a more intense focus into racquet stringing. It is aimed at those who want to string their own racquets, or to provide a service to their club or customers. Not only does it fully cover how to string a racquet, but it includes information about different types of string and how to understand the technology used within the racquets.

Overview of course
 
A two day course will cover the following :-

  • An analysis of string properties and characteristics,
  • An analysis of frame properties and characteristics,
  • Fuller instruction on how to string a tennis racquet which will cover:
    • Removal of string in a correct manner,
    • Measuring of string,
    • Correct stringing methods,
    • Handling of string.
 
  • Attendees have opportunity to spend a day a stringing a tennis racquet,
  • Removal and replacing grips, both base and overgrips,
  • Replacing bumper/grommet strips,
  • Enlarging a grip.
 
The course may also cover the following: -

  • How to alter the specifications of a tennis racquet to match required measurements,
  • How to alter the specification of a tennis racquet to avoid or alleviate injuries
  • How to adjust grip size to suit the player,
 
Learning Outcome of Courses
 
Depending on which course is attended, the learning outcome of the courses will be as follows: -

  • Understanding of the importance of:
    • Different strings characteristics,
    • Benefits of choosing the right string,
    • The effects of choosing the wrong strings
 
  • How to string a tennis racquet:
    • Using proper and sound techniques,
    • In a manner that reduces stress on the frame,
    • To avoid damage to the frame when stringing it,
    • To improve performance of the tennis racquet,
    • To provide a professionally finished product.
 
  • How to correctly:
    • Remove an old grip,
    • Fit a new base grip,
    • Apply an overgrip,
    • Remove and replace bumper/grommet strips,
    • Enlarge a grip,
 
Costs

  • Cost per person - £250 per day
  • Groups of 5 or more - 10% discount per person
  • Groups of 10 or more – 15% discount per person
  • Please refer to ERSA International for applicable joining and test fees
   
Notes

  • Courses will be provided by instructors who:
    • Are certified ERSA International stringers,
    • have strung a several Grand Slam tournaments including Wimbledon,
    • have strung at ITF futures, ATP Challengers, and ATP/WTA Tour events,
  • Dunlop and Prince stringing machines will be used on all course to aid the ease of learning of the attendees,
  • All equipment will be supplied for the courses including tennis racquets, strings, grips and bumper/grommet strips.
