Prep & Test

This course can be either a 1 or 1½ day course. A 1 day course will use the morning for the prep side, and the afternoon for the actual test. The 1½ day course will use the 1st day for the prep, and the ½ day for the actual test. The decision on which is best for the student will be made by them but with guidance of the tester.

Ideally the 1 day course will be for those with a good level of experience, and just needs some guidance towards the test subjects. The 1½ day course would be for those who are a little unsure of their skill level and may need more guidance.

It would be expected that those students looking to take the 1 day course would be aiming towards the Master Racquet Technician, while the 1½ course would be for those aiming towards the Certified Stringer level.

Overview of course

A 1 day course will cover the following :-

  • Stringing a racquet : The delegate will string a racquet in a similar vane as the proper test. The instructor will offer guidance through this section. This section will also cover string removal and grommet replacement.

  • Enlarging a grip : The delegate will remove, enlarge and apply a new base grip. The instructor will offer guidance through this section

  • Written test discussion : The delegate and instructor will discuss the information contained in the technique and methods guide, with reference to possible questions in the actual test.

  • Test : Live practical and written test. Total expected time is 4 to 4.5 hours

  • Marking of Test : If the delegate prefers to wait, the test can be marked while they wait; and further discussion/feeback can be given by the instructor. Alternatively, the result will be given within a week

A 1 ½ day course will cover the following:-

  • Stringing a racquet : The delegate will string several racquets, with the final one being strung in a similar vane as the proper test. The instructor will offer guidance through this section. This section will also cover string removal and grommet replacement.

  • Enlarging a grip : The delegate will remove, enlarge and apply a new base grip. The instructor will offer guidance through this section

  • Written test discussion : The delegate and instructor will discuss the information contained in the technique and methods guide of the Stringers’ Digest, with reference to possible questions in the actual test. The discussion will be in greater depth than the 1 day course

  • Test : Live practical and written test. Total expected time is 4 to 4.5 hours.

  • Marking of Test : If the delegate prefers to wait, the test can be marked while they wait; and further discussion/feeback can be given by the instructor. Alternatively, the result will be given within a week.
